Team celebrates 247 years of the U.S. Army

By Tyra Breaux Walter Reed Army Institute of Research

Walter Reed Army Institute of Research celebrates the 247th birthday of the Army, July 14. WRAIR leaders, Col. Chad Koenig and Command Sgt. Maj. Rodmond Churchill gave remarks as part of the festivities, which ended with the singing of the Army song. The U.S. Army was founded on 14 June 1775, when the Continental Congress listed the help of riflemen to serve the revolutionary army against the British. Each year WRAIR celebrates the history of the Army and its contribution to the growth and development of the United States.
