WRAIR and Smithsonian scientists discuss the big picture of medical research at the 3rd annual One Heath Symposium

The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and the Smithsonian hosted the 3rd annual One Health Research Symposium on November 22nd at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. More than more than 90 scientists from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), the Smithsonian, and nine other organizations came together to discuss the largest challenges in medical research.

WRAIR-West hosts training in new project to identify prevalent tendon injuries before they occur

On October 3, 2024, WRAIR-West co-hosted an ultrasound training session with Dr. Dan Cushman, a professor in the University of Utah’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The training, held at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), introduced advanced techniques for using ultrasound technology to identify microscopic structural abnormalities in tendons.

WRAIR advances neurostimulation research in new partnership with NATO Committee

On October 16, 2024, the NATO Neurostimulation Committee visited the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research’s (WRAIR) Sleep Research Center (SRC). Hosted by Dr. Tracy Jill Doty, Chief of the SRC, the visit focused on learning about ongoing fatigue mitigation research using neurostimulation.
